Goat Walks in the Woods
In 2018, we welcomed our first goats to the farm, Sophie and Sadie, and since then the herd has grown. With the farm being situated on 74 acres of forest along a magical brook, we have many trails that have been developed over the years which are perfect for hiking. Walking with the goats is one of our favourite activities here on the farm and we are excited to be sharing this with others.
The goats love walking in the woods, nibbling away on greenery and bark as they go, and we have experienced incredible interactions between kids and adults alike with these forest wanders. These amazing beings are intuitive and gentle with people and enjoy the attention they receive from folks along the hike. This makes for some very special experiences. We have also enjoyed meeting new people and see this as such an incredible opportunity to share what we have learned from our homesteading adventure here in Cape Breton.

We follow a forested trail along the brook, making stops along the way to interact with the goats. The goats have been handled consistently since birth and are therefore very friendly and truly enjoy human interaction. This is also a great opportunity, when we have goat kids, to cuddle an adorable little goaty babe.
The hike itself is about 1.5 km in length, but we walk slowly with the goats to have more interaction time with them. We also make a stop by the beautiful brook, which is where we fell in love with this land at first sight! There is some incline on the trail, however, we have found that it is manageable for most due to the slow pace. Depending on the time of year, some parts of the trail may also be wet and or muddy, therefore, if you have mobility issues, it may not be suitable.
These walks are open to all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult. As the walk is in the forest, fellow goat hikers should be dressed appropriately for outdoor conditions including footwear that can get a little wet and clothing that can handle goat cuddles!
Private Walk in the Woods with Goats

This is a great way for families and small groups to book a walk in the woods with the goats. This is about an hour long interaction with the goat herd as we walk the trails on the farm. We offer these private walks from Tuesday to Saturday.
We offer this as a private program for groups of up to 6 people. The cost is $75 for the hour for the group, children 2 and under are free. We can also add more goat walkers for an additional cost, however, we like to keep the groups small to allow for more quality goat interaction time. Our maximum group size is 15 people.
Sunday by Donation Goat Walks

In the spring and fall, we offer by-donation goat walks on Sundays starting at 10:00 am, weather permitting. Sign up is required.
Goat Kid Cuddles – Spring Sessions Only

No other way to put it, goat kids are pretty darn cute and we thought it would be an awesome idea to provide one-on-one time with baby goats. This is a special hour of just hanging out with goat kids where you can watch all of their tricks and schenanigans and spend time cuddling with them.
During this hour long hangout, we meet you up at our farm stand with the goat kids and walk down to our forest site where we hang out with the kids. We have benches and play structures where you can interact with the goat kids while learning all about goats.
We offer this as a private program for groups of up to 6 people. The cost is $50 for the hour for the group. Please contact us for more details.
Goat Walk with Campfire – Spring and Fall Sessions Only

Our newly developed forest site includes an area where we can host fellow goat walkers around a campfire, situated alongside the brook. This is a beautiful spot nestled among old growth trees in a lush mossy area. We walk the forested trail with the goats for the first hour, and then end the walk at the forest site with a hot beverage around the campfire. This is truly a unique experience, and a wonderful way to spend a morning, afternoon or early evening learning about goats, the farm and being outdoors
The cost of this two hour adventure is $250 for a group size of up to 6 people. This allows for families or a group of friends to book this private tour as a memorable way to spend time together. We ask for advance reservations as these tours require preparatory work prior to your booking. Please contact us for more information.
